Sophia is survived by two of her four Children as well as six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Sophia was born March 12, 1931 to Salvatore and Lucy Pattavina. She spent her youth living on Green Street in Middletown, CT before becoming a life-long resident of Old Saybrook. She was a devoted wife of 67 years, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother who cherished time spent with her family.
In addition to raising their children, Sophia was a woman ahead of her time , and was determined to succeed in her many endeavors. She established the Old Saybrook Nursery School, Set up Sophia’s Women's Fashion store in Perruccio’s Village as well as being a clothing buyer for Lane Bryant Company.
As well as being a talented singer, Sophia was also a self-taught watercolor artist winning awards for her many water color paintings. A tenacious and strong woman, she always believed anything is possible.,
Sophia, will be most remembered for her passion for a well-prepared Manhattan, her love of opera, traveling the world and closest to her heart, her beloved Sicily.
Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 19th, 2022 at 1:00 PM in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday morning from 10 AM to 12 PM in The Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook. Flowers can be sent directly to the Swan Funeral Home.
