Thomas C. Baldi, age 85, of Old Saybrook, beloved husband of Carmen Quercoili Baldi, passed away peacefully at home on April 2, 2015.
As a life-long resident of Old Saybrook, he spent many happy days among family and friends in the town he loved. Tom proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a Motor Pool Sargent in the 238 Anti-Aircraft in C-Battery. He was an active member in Post 113 American Legion for 62 years. A mason by trade, Tom built many buildings in Connecticut most notably the Pfizer building, Mystic Aquarium and St. John School. He was a foreman for the Schnipp Company and retired after fifty years. After retirement, Tom continued to work locally on “side projects:, taking pride in building the outside alter as well as the brickwork in the front entryway of his parish, St. John Church. He truly loved helping his son and daughter with the many landscaping and house projects for their homes. Some of Tom’s passions included boating and fishing on the CT River, riding his bike to watch the town’s little league games, and watching his Yankees.
Tom leaves behind his son, Michael Baldi and his wife Lynn Ann of Chester and his cherished daughter, Sharon Baldi of Old Saybrook. He was the brother to the late Frank Baldi, Jr. and sister-in-law to Bea Baldi, brother to Roy Baldi and his wife Gigi, and cousin to Ron Baldi of Old Saybrook.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Monday, April 6, from 4-8 p.m. at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road in Old Saybrook. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. John Roman Catholic Church in Old Saybrook on April 7, at 11 a.m. Please visit www.swanfuneralhomeoldsaybrook.com for online tributes and condolences.
