Vada Gail Turner
July 25, 1941 – January 23, 2019
Colchester- Vada Gail (Bernard) Turner, 77, entered into eternal life surrounded by her loving family on January 23, 2019 at Middlesex Hospital after a long illness.
Vada was born July 25, 1941 in Sanford, Maine. She was the loving daughter of Virginia (Baldwin) and Emile Bernard.
Vada was employed by Quality Name Plates and retired in the early 1990’s. She was a dedicated hard worker and cared dearly for all of her friends she worked with for many years.
She was a long time resident of Moodus where she met husband Paul F. Turner, Sr. and they wed in 1994 and made their home both in Moodus and Colchester. Vada was a devoted wife, mother, and step-mother. She cherished the time spent with her family.
Vada was a kind hearted, loving woman with a great sense of humor. She brightened every room and told you how she felt about everything. She was known to every child in the neighborhood as “Mom.” She enjoyed her life and spent most of her time doing crossword puzzles, listening to music, and watching her favorite TV shows while petting her beautiful cat, “Tinker Bell.”
In addition to her husband, Paul, she is survived by her brother Richie Bernard (Peggy) of Concord, VA; her daughter Wanda L. Shuckerow (Roger Willhide) of Meza, AZ.; her sons, Richard E. Shuckerow, Jr. (Paula) of Senoia, GA; Joseph S. Shuckerow (Janet) of Higganum, CT; Michael H. Shuckerow (Jennifer) of Milford, CT; her step-sons, Dwayne P. Turner (Patsy) of Lyme, CT; Paul F. Turner, Jr. (Jill Krupke) of Colchester, CT. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, who will miss their Grammie dearly. Vada was predeceased by her mother Virginia (Baldwin) Bernard and her father Emile Bernard.
Vada’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Middlesex Hospital staff for their wonderful care over the years of her illness.
There will be no calling hours. A private family get together will be held to celebrate Vada’s wonderful life and how she touched all of us with her special love.
