

Former Old Saybrook resident Vera Louise Sorensen, 89, died peacefully on July 14, 2015, at her home in Clinton, CT surrounded by family.
Funeral service will be held at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road (Rt.1) Old Saybrook, CT. on Saturday July 25, Calling hours from 1pm to 3pm with a service at 3pm.
Mrs. Sorensen was born January 16, 1926 in Meriden, CT to Alvin and Helen Cotton.
She was a very proud and devoted Mother to her seven children and an active member of Old Saybrook Congregational Church where she was active in many groups, among them were; Crafters, annual church fairs, Bible study and prayer groups. She also volunteered at the Old Saybrook Food Pantry.
She loved sewing and cross stitch. She loved animals and watching the birds at her bird feeders. She loved the beach, lighthouses and Pelicans.
She was a very giving person and contributed to multiple charities among them were; Amvets, American Red Cross, Breast Cancer, VFW and Multiple Sclerosis just to name a few.
She is survived by her seven Daughters and one Son;
Linda and husband Dr. Timothy Clougherty, Robin and husband Joeseph Martonic, June and Husband Roger Foster, Peggy and husband George Pascucci, Penny and husband Jeffery James, Dale and husband Steven Malcarne, Larry and Wife Kathleen Sorensen, and a total of 12 Granchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Lawrence Sorensen.
