OLD TOWN--Abigail Baker born August 30th 2010 with zero probability of a road trip home. No light, no air, no hope for her. We held our breath with fear. She held her breath with love, and with a “no, no, no” attitude she stayed with us. For seven years she enchanted us with her smiles and giggles and brilliance and brought music to our lives. And in the end, on April 19, 2018 she said good bye to this life, in her own way, on her own terms as only a princess would. On to other places we can’t understand but leaving behind her gifts of light, air and hope.
Abbey loved the morning, she rose like the sun with a literal squeal of happy. She taught us to enjoy each moment, to enjoy the sun on your face, a warm breeze off the lake, the sound of her grandpa telling her a story, the sounds of her brother rushing by her in the midst of a light saber fight, fighting to save her, protect her, the mushing of her face as big sister Izzy would plant a kiss on her cheek. An acoustic set tailored just for her, serenaded by dad and the quiet warm snuggles from her momma as she would drift off into the night.
All she knew from day one to day 2,789 was love. Anyone that was privileged enough to share that love, to share in Abbey, to have that beautiful beaming smile look up at them knows that their life was forever changed.
Abigail is survived by her mom Shannon Gallant, her Dad Daniel Baker, her sister Izzy Baker, brother Blake Baker, Grandpa Joe Baker, Grandma Mimi Baker, Grammy Patti Murphy, Grampy James Murphy and Grandparents Diane Gallant and Ed Lucas, great grandmother Loretta Gallant. Special thanks to her amazing home nurses Rosa King and Cheryl Gale along with Laurie, Anjelica and Jordan. Special thanks to her wonderful teacher Leslie Johnson-Wright "JW" and all of the team at Old Town Elementary. Along with countless other nurses, doctors, hospice workers, therapist family and friends who were lucky enough to meet her. Abbey’s Pepe Ricky Gallant and her “GG” Ed Hamel have now taken guardianship of Miss Abbey Doodle. They will no doubt take great care of her.
Friends will gather to celebrate her life 5-7 pm Tuesday at Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St Old Town, ME. A funeral service will be conducted 11AM Wednesday at the First Congregational Church or Milford. Anyone who wants to donate a stuffed animal in Abbey’s memory can drop them off at Old Town Elementary School, Orono High School, or the funeral home on Monday and Tuesday. They will surround Abbey at her service and then some will brought home to go in Abbey’s room for Blake and Izzy to enjoy and the others will be donated to a local charity in Abbey
