Alfred Joseph Lafontaine

MILFORD - Alfred J. Lafontaine, 89, passed away peacefully at a Bangor hospital, surrounded by his family after a brief illness. Alfred was born in Old Town March 8, 1926, the son of Joseph and Anna (Levesque) Lafontaine. Alfred graduated from Old Town, class of 1944. Upon his graduation, he enlisted in the U.A. Air Force where he was deployed and fought in World War II. He was proud to serve his country, and he was proud to be a belly gunner during the war. Alfred had a great passion for his family; he would never miss an event or a sports game of his grandchildren. He loved golfing, fishing, and spending time out to his camp at Pushaw that he and his wife bought in 1968. He was a jack of all trades and he if knew you didn't know how to fix something, or needed help building something; he would be there to lend a helping hand.Alfred will be missed by his wife of 68 years, Joyce (Coiley) Lafontaine; his children Michael Lafontaine and wife Kathy, Linda (Lafontaine) Blanchard and husband Bruce; grandchildren Eric Blanchard and wife Elizabeth, Keith Blanchard and his wife Cynthia, Alan Lafontaine and wife Danielle, Lori Lafontaine and fiancé Casey Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Logan and Charlotte Blanchard, Josh, Isla, and Jocelyn Lafontaine; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Alfred was predeceased by his infant son Jeffery, his brother Joseph; sisters, Tina and Theresa. The grandchildren would like to give a special thanks to Nana and Pep for their individual week at camp on Pushaw Lake every summer. To Pep, who spent countless hours at the end of the wharf baiting hooks and removing the fish, a special thanks. The highlight of the week was the walk down the Golden road, where a handful of coins were placed for the kids to find. These weeks will last forever. Thanks Pep. Friends may call Monday, December 28, 2015 at Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St. Old Town, ME from 5pm-7pm. A mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 11am at the Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church 429 Main St. Old Town, ME. Friends are invited to the Parish Hall for continued fellowship and light luncheon. Burial will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would like any donations in Alfred's name to be made to the Old Town Animal Orphanage, 71 Airport Rd. Old Town, ME 04468
