

Indian Island - Brenda Ann Fields, 60, died on April 26, 2018, surrounded by family and friends at a Bangor hospital. She was born on June 13, 1957, in Bangor, a daughter of Ernest Fields and Nancy Lolar.
Brenda was a proud member of the Penobscot Nation and cherished her community. She worked for the Penobscot Nation for over 41 years and served as the Nation's Vice-Chief and on the Tribal Council. Throughout her lifetime she served on numerous tribal, state, and national committees. Brenda enjoyed camping at Jo-Mary Lake, sewing, making native regalia, but most of all loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, David Almenas, daughter, Nicole (Fields) Hines; granddaughter, Gabreill Fields-Love, and beloved great-grandson, Quinton Fields-Love; three grandsons, Kamron, Branden, and Shea Hines, all of Indian Island; brothers, Blaine Lolar of Argyle, Kirk Fields and his wife, Natasha, Mark Fields and his wife Vivian, all of Indian Island, and special godchild, Sarah Fields, of Indian Island; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Indian Island, where friends may call from 4 p.m. on Monday until time of service on Tuesday.
