

ORONO, ME --Cassandra J. ‘Sandy’ Lovejoy, 68, passed away Oct. 31, 2012 at Dirigo Pines Inn, Orono with her loving family by her side. She was born Feb. 27, 1944, in Dover-Foxcroft, ME the daughter of Reginald and Caroline (Sinclair) Blanchard.
Sandy graduated from Piscataquis Community High School in Guilford, ME. She attended the University of Maine at Orono and Portland State University in Oregon attaining a degree in library science. She later earned her master’s degree in library science from the University of Rhode Island.
She started her career as a librarian at Meroby Elementary School in Mexico, Maine and continued her career as librarian serving for 24 years at the Rocky Hill School in East Greenwich, RI. She also worked as a part time librarian at the New England Institute of Technology. She returned to Maine in 2007 upon retirement. Her free time was spent gardening, reading, and with her grandchildren. She enjoyed summers spent at camps on Whetstone Pond and Webb Lake.
Sandy leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, William and Patricia Lovejoy of Old Town, ME; son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Jennifer Lovejoy of San Antonio, TX; father, Reginald Blanchard of Clinton; 2 brothers, Edward Payson Blanchard of Clinton; and Stephen Blanchard of Dawsonville, GA; sister Susan Johnson and her husband and Wayne of East Greenbush, NY; 5 grandchildren, Emily, Benjamin, Samuel of Old Town and Amelia, and Charlotte of San Antonio, TX; and extended family, Kay and Ralph Johnson of Greenville and their children. She was predeceased by her mother.
At her request the service will be private. Interment will be at Lawn Cemetery, Guilford.
