Old Town - Cora Louise (Belanger) Simon, 88, died peacefully October 20, 2020, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born October 23, 1931, in Old Town, a daughter of Maurice and Idella (Sharpe) Belanger.
Cora was an amazing mother and grandmother. She worked hard in the area shoe shops but really enjoyed being home, listening to music. As a child she enjoyed ice skating and going to the movies. She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She enjoyed visits with family.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen Simon and his wife, Sandra of Hermon, Gary Simon and his fiancée, Karen Cyr of Greenbush; daughter, Karen Franco and her husband, Raymond of North Berwick; three grandchildren, David Simon, Alexis Franco and her boyfriend, Tyler Dewey, and Olivia Franco; sister, Ruthann Belanger, sisters-in-law, Dolores Simon and Pauline Rand; several nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Eugene Simon, in 2013; and siblings, Maurice Belanger Jr., Helen Vivona, Albert Belanger, Baby James Belanger, and Pricilla Belanger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association alz.org
