OLD TOWN—Donald R. Ketchen, 79, died unexpectedly July 18, 2021 as the result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born October 3, 1941 in Old Town a son of Carl and Irene (McInnich) Ketchen.
Don was a graduate of Old Town high School, Class of 1959. He served in the United States Navy (1959-1962) aboard submarines. Don was a hardworking man and worked for National Cash Register Company and retired from James River paper mill in Old Town. In retirement he drove for Quirk Auto and was currently working three days a week as security at Bangor International Airport. He loved to drive, enjoyed the quiet time in his vehicle. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus and Elks.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elise (Girard) Ketchen, beloved son Dennis; brother-in-law Gillis Girard and his wife Helen; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers Alfred and David Ketchen.
There will be no formal funeral services. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery Bangor.
