

Londonderry, NH and Old Town--Everett M. Flanders Jr. (98) passed away peacefully at home on Oct 22, 2021. He was born in Bradley, Maine on March 10,1923, the son of Everett M. Flanders Sr. and Edith (Martin) Flanders.
Everett graduated from Old Town High School class of 1941. He married his high school sweetheart, Arlene Strout, on December 25, 1942. They lived in Old Town until moving to Londonderry, NH, to live with their daughter in 2004.
After being turned down by the army for physical reasons, Everett went to aircraft repair school. He worked for the Air Force at Dow Air Force Base in Bangor during World War II as an aircraft mechanic on the aircraft that came home from the war. After the war, he went to work at the paper mill in Old Town (Penobscot Chemical Fibre and later Georgia Pacific). He retired after thirty-five years in December 1985. The last thirteen years he worked in the instrument department. After retiring, he was a part time driver for Darling’s courtesy van for eight years.
Everett was a member of the United Baptist Church in Old Town for 68 years. He served there for a time as a Trustee. He was a member of Star in the East Lodge in Old Town.
Everett was predeceased by a son, Brian in 1997, his wife Arlene in 2004 and his sister Muriel Reid in 2013.
He leaves behind a son, Roger Flanders and his wife Donna of Milford; a daughter Cynthia and her husband Daniel Christensen of Londonderry, NH; a daughter-in-law Judith Flanders Robinson of Newburgh; nine grandchildren: Michael Flanders of Blue Hill, Stephen Flanders and his wife Kimberly of Carmel, Seth Flanders and his wife Kate of Carmel, Nicole (Flanders) Twombly of Raymond, NH, Lauralee (Flanders) Underwood and her husband Derrick of Old Town, Jody (Christensen) Anderson and husband Daniel of Londonderry, NH, Scott Christensen and wife Jennifer of Londonderry, NH, Timothy Christensen and his wife Kristin of Newtown, CT, and Eric Christensen and his wife Katherine of Abingdon, MD. He also leaves behind 19 great-grandchildren who fondly remember Gramp.
Everett loved being with his family. We will forever cherish the memories of him chatting about cars, watching the grandkids and great grandkids, snowmobiling through the woods, kayaking on the lake, mowing the lawn with the tractor and always checking the weather. One of his most memorable memories was to see the war memorial at Pearl Harbor, Honolulu Hawaii. He is now at peace in Heaven with his bride of almost 62 years.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Birmingham Funeral Home in Old Town at 3 PM on Saturday November 27th, where friends and family will gather until time of service.
