Jean Paul Ouellette

June 8, 1945April 28, 2019

Jean Paul Ouellette, 73, passed away unexpectedly April 28, 2019 as a result of a car accident after spending a weekend in Northern Maine, the home of his heart, at an ACTS Retreat.

Jean was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on June 8, 1945 to Joseph O. Ouellette, and Lillian B. (Michaud) Ouellette. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and soon to be Pepe to his first grandchild. He was so excited to finally be a Pepe.

Jean retired from Eastern Maine Medical Center at the age of 62 after surviving the rare disease amyloidosis, but spent most of his career as a salesman. Jean was very social, cared for people, and loved to talk which made him successful in his career as a salesman.

Jean had many talents, but the two things he loved to do most was singing, and woodworking. After retiring in 2008, he joined the Black Bear Men’s Chorus, where he met and made many friends, young and not so young. He shared his love of music with his son Jeff, even though they liked different genres. Jean, like his Dad, loved to work with wood, and on any given day could be found in his woodworking shop where he spent many hours.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Ouellette) Ouellette of nearly 50 years, son Jeff, and his wife Christina, step-granddaughter, Belle-Elise Haskell, and soon to be grandson, Harris Edmund. Jean married into a large family, and had the pleasure of being welcomed and loved by all. Sisters-in-law, Theresa Reynolds, and Deborah Small, and her husband David, Brothers-in-law, Thomas and Michael Ouellette, and his wife Kathy. He was especially blessed with many nieces and nephews, and cousins. For three years he had the joy of being in the presence of a great niece and great nephew, Meledore Joy Small, and Levi Joseph Emerson, who brought sunshine into his life.

He was predeceased by his parents, his only sibling, Raymond Ouellette, Brother-in-law, Alan Reynolds, Sister-in-law Theresa (Raymond) Ouellette, Mother and Father-in law, and many special uncles and aunts.

Adieu, my husband. I will love you forever.

Jean was simply an amazing guy. He always had a huge smile on his face and was filled to the brim with optimism. He and Barb always made all of Jeff's friends feel like extended family and we all appreciate every minute of it. I remember what a kind soul he was, always shaking my hand every time I ran into him. I would go out of my way to say hello and talk for a minute when I would see him in the Old Town area because he was just so friendly and always had kind words for everyone. Jean will be missed by all. My deepest sympathies to Barb, Jeff, Nina, Belle and the whole family. We love you all.
