He grew up in Caribou, where his family owned the only store in town. He moved to Manchester, Conn., in his younger years, finishing his high school career at Manchester High School where he made several lifelong friends. He was a working man who loved his family and strove to provide everything he could. He worked several jobs in his lifetime- everything from rescuing and raising Shelties to working with plastics, finally retiring from Gerber Scientific Products where he was an assembly engineer in technologies. He was an avid church-goer belonging to Storrs Community Church in his later years in Connecticut and has been a member of Stillwater Federated Church in Old Town since moving to Maine. He was a member of Elks Lodge 1359 in Connecticut as well as a leader in his daughter's Girl Scout Troop and years later his son's Boy Scout Troop. He took great pride in community service helping wherever and whenever he could. He was a great man, loved and adored by all who met him.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Hector and Gertrude (Marquis) Levesque. Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Levesque of Argyle Township; son, Matthew and his wife, Francine Levesque, of Camden, N.C., and their two children, Julius and Teresa; daughter, Ann Marie and her husband, Todd Sheerman, also of Argyle; and son, Edward Levesque of Argyle; as well as his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Jo Ellen Russell of Tolland, Conn. He is also survived by two lifelong friends, Bill Roth of Manchester, Conn., and Ralph Howard of South Carolina.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Stillwater Federated Church, Bennoch Road, Old Town. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Center of Maine, care of Eastern Maine Charities, P.O. Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402-0931. emhsfoundation.org
