Old Town - Julie L. (Petrie) Vinson, 51, passed away after a long and hard-fought illness in Old Town, on February 20, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born in Bangor, on September 10, 1966, the daughter of John and Evelyn (Landry) Petrie.
Julie graduated from Old Town High School and obtained an Associate's Degree from Beal College. She worked for Lane Bryant, later as a teller for Bangor Savings Bank. Julie worked her way up to the position of Assistant Branch Manager at the Hammond Street Bangor Savings and retired in July 2017 after 29 years at the bank.
Julie was an avid porcelain doll collector. She also enjoyed her annual girl's shopping trip spent with her mother and sisters. Even in the face of illness, Julie showed her strength and never gave up the fight.
In addition to her parents, John and Evelyn Petrie, Julie is survived by her husband, Donald Vinson; siblings, Cynthia LaFlamme, Cheryl Wood and husband, Clayton, Stephen Petrie and wife, Laurie, Dianne Holmes and husband, David; nieces and nephews, Matthew (Julie) Petrie, Samuel (Sara) Petrie, Sarah (Matthew) Love, Andrew (Aleigh) Wood, Bridgette (Brandie) Holmes, Kevin (Ashley) LaFlamme, Scott (Kaitlynn) LaFlamme; sisters-in-law, Mary (Dennis) Vandi and Betty (Francis) Wright; brothers-in-law, Bruce (Judy) Vinson and Dorian (Katherine) Vinson; she is also survived by several great nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Julie will also be missed by her dear friends, Yong Aa Gurney, Aimee Libby, and Lori Sinclair. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Beacon Hospice for their loving and attentive care of Julie.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St, Old Town. A mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 26, at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Catholic Church, where a reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Bradley, later in the spring.
