MILLINOCKET AND BREWER - Lillian Ella (Wilson) Anderson Wark, 91, died on June 13, 2021 at a local hospital of natural causes. She was born in Stacyville, Maine, on May 12, 1930, daughter of Hilda McLain Hutchins and Harry Wilson.
Lill was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1949. She spent her 20's living and working in The Maine North Woods and Baxter State Park, including winters at Chimney Pond and summers on The Penobscot. She was an avid bird watcher, a lover of wildlife and nature.
Lillian worked at Emerson's Pharmacy in Millinocket for many years and loved the friends and family she made there. She raised her children, taught CCD, was a Girl Scout leader and member of the Daughters of Isabella and a proud resident of Millinocket. On May 1, 1973, Lillian and Vernon Wark were married and spent the rest of their lives together. They owned many properties in the Katahdin Area, including the Montgomery Ward store in Millinocket. Upon Vern's retirement, they traveled and spent winters in Zephyrhills, FL.
Together, their family includes 7 children, 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. "Gram" was always known for home knitted mittens and whoopie pies. You could not get out of her house without a meal and perhaps a game of checkers. She was a competitive card player, and enjoyed bingo and yard sales with her sister and her many friends. She took up golf in her 50's and thoroughly enjoyed the game. She played league golf in both Maine and Florida.
Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Wark; her parents; her stepfather, Charles Hutchins; her beloved sisters, Letha Bellfleur, Edna Landry and Doris Levesque; her brother, Roland Wilson; and stepson, Steven Wark. Lillian will be remembered by her son, Jim Anderson and his wife, Lisa; her daughter, Judy and her children, Robert Miller, Daniel Miller and Erica Blanchette Hinds; stepchildren, Cheri (Wark) Miceli and her husband, Aldo, and their children, Evan and Adam, Kenneth Wark and his wife Sheryll, and their children, Mitchell Wark and Heather McLaughlin, Linda Wark and her children, William Tewksbury and Katie Sancuk, and Tom Wark and his children, Matthew Wark, Emily Wark and Andy Wark. Lillian and Vernon had 7 great-grandchildren at this time, Gabriella, Lilianna, Amar'e, Raelyn, Adriel, Malcolm and Marl'e. She is also survived by her sister, Frances Hungington; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Wark and his wife, Gilda; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends, many of whom she was a godmother to.
At her request, there will be no visiting hours. Burial will be at Millinocket Cemetery on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at 1 p.m.
