

Old Town—Lois Marie (Babkirk) Comeau, 75, passed away May 12, 2011 at a Bangor hospital following a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). She was born January 13, 1936 in Old Town a daughter of Wesley D. and Lumina L. (LeBlanc) Babkirk.
Lois was educated in Old Town schools and received her Master ‘s of Education from the University of Maine at Orono. She taught school in Auburn, Brewer, and Old Town before her marriage in 1965. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church in Old Town for 45 years. Lois was a regular blood donor for the American Red Cross having donated 98 pints of blood over the years. She was a very caring and loving wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed tremendously and will be especially remembered for her strong will during her devastating disease.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 45 years, William G. Comeau; their son Alan Comeau and his wife Christine (Winter) Comeau and their two children Haley and Austin of Old Town; five step-children Delia (Comeau) Carter and her husband Jimmy of Severn, MD, Elizabeth (Comeau) Cashman and her husband Jack of Brewer, William G. Comeau and his wife Judy (Lenfest) of Milford; Paul D. Comeau and his wife Sandy (Christiansen) of Winterport, Edward G. Comeau and his wife Charald (St. Thomas) of Lincoln; 13 step-grandchildren Craig Jones and his wife Megan, Brad Jones and his wife Dawn, Derek Cashman and his wife Michelle, Daniel Cashman and his wife Karen, Tracy Comeau and his wife Brandi, Michael Comeau, Christopher Comeau, Kate Nicholson and her husband John, Jonathan Comeau, Jennifer Folsom and her husband Jason, and beth Comeau; 12 step-great grandchildren Chloe Jones, Kathleen, Sarah, and Jaclyn Cashman, Benjamin Comeau, Alexis Carey, Alyssa, Tyler, and Brigette Comeau, Zoe Nicholson, Abigail and Kaylee Folsom, and three new great grandchildren due this year; sister Barbara (Babkirk) Jacobs and her husband John; niece Kristy Harvey and nephews Ryan McCannell. She was predeceased by her parents, a brother Joseph Babkirk, and step-grandson Nathan E. Comeau.

Friends may call 5-8PM Sunday at Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main Street, Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Monday at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Immediately following the services, all are invited to the Parish Center for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
