OLD TOWN- Philip J. Veilleux, 82, died peacefully February 15, 2021 at his residence. He was born July 9, 1938 in Old town a son of Rosaire and Claire (Lavoie) Veilleux.
Phil graduated from Old Town High School, 1957, and soon began his 47 year career at the Old Town Mill, where he served as Local 80 UPIU president for 20 years, retiring in 2005. A lifelong resident of French Island, he had many close friends and neighbors, and he enjoyed working his woodpile with his dear friend Alan Greenleaf. Phil enjoyed traveling and visiting his close first cousins in Ste Benoit, Quebec, Canada. Phil enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas casinos and many visits to Hollywood Slots, Bangor. Always a man with a great tan, he loved to be on the beach at Old Orchard Beach and Green Lake. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and had a special bond with his youngest granddaughter Lucy.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Mayre Ann (Smart) Veilleux; three sons Phillip R. Veilleux and his wife Cindy of Carmel, Troy D. Veilleux and his wife Maral of CA, and Eric C. Veilleux and his wife Allyson of Old Town; seven grandchildren Jasmine Worcester and her husband Jake, Cody Veilleux, Hasmig Veilleux, Troy Veilleux, Delaney Veilleux, Elijah Veilleux, and Lucy Veilleux, two great granddaughters Charlotte and Josie; sister Rosemary Folsom and her husband John; brother John Veilleux and his wife Peggy of Milford; sisters-in-law Dottie Ehman, Harriet Cummings and Tillie Morein; special nephew Danny Smart, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Norman Veilleux and nephew Alan Veilleux.
A graveside service will be announced in the spring. The family wishes to thank Northern Light Hospice for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Phil and the family.
