Richard "Dick" L Ellis

Milford- -Richard L. Ellis, 72, died peacefully with his family by his side after a long battle with cancer on Sunday May 16, 2010. He was born September 9, 1937 in Orono, the son of Andrew and Alice (Currier) Ellis.

Richard graduated third in his class from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Orono, Class of 1955. He was employed at the University of Maine both in the bookstore and public safety department for 32 years. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working part-time at the Maritime International.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Carol (England) Ellis; three children Michael Ellis and his wife Lynda of Milford, Karen Georgia and her husband Michael of Milford, and Thomas Ellis and his wife Tara of Buxton; seven grandchildren Christopher, Corey, Rebecca, Brady, Carson, Kathleen and Drew; a brother Michael Ellis of Bangor sister Mary Bryer and her husband Rueben of NC; aunt Edna Bragg of Bangor; several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 12-2PM Friday May 21, 2010 at the Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main Street Old Town where a funeral service will be conducted at 2PM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
