INDIAN ISLAND- Richard Steven “Chong” Hamilton, 61, passed away in his home and met with the creator for his final journey on July 7, 2020. He was born June 25, 1959 to Richard Hamilton and Laura Jennings. Richard was predeceased by his father and mother. He is survived by his wife Stella and their daughters Aquene, Wiphun and Erika. His siblings Diane, Eric, Harry and Onawa and her husband Kyle. His grandkids Sequin, Skyler, Caeden, Emma, Scarlett and Lucas. His nieces and nephews Dylan, Karly, Sarah, Kyle and Lucas. A dear friend Alex and the family dogs Princess and Stella. Richard loved spending time with his family, listening to his favorite music, doing his wood workings, and spending time with nature. Most importantly just being our “Dadda”. “Hang it up and see what tomorrow brings” – Truckin, Grateful Dead Donations may be made in his name to the St. Anne/Penobscot Nation DHS Food Pantry, 1 Church St. Indian Island, ME. 04468

I have known Chong since the late 80’s in Portland and on the Rez. My fondest memories are upta camp!!! It’s been a few years since we hung out. I’m very sadden to hear of his passing. Sending much love to Steve’s family, I love you all. May he Rest In Peace.

Steve was a very nice and gentle guy. He always had a smile and a friendly hello. He would always help everybody and spoke kindly.. and offered his help in any way he could. I will always remember him as a decent and caring family man! Love you Steve and bless you on your journey to our ancestors ❤️!!
