GREENBUSH – Rodney James Sanborn, 62, passed away peacefully in Bangor, February 15, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was born in Bangor, September 16, 1955, the son of Franklin and Velma (Young) Sanborn. Rodney graduated from Old Town High School in 1973. He went to work at the Champion Paper Mill for 23 years, later working for the Department of Transportation for another 14 years. After leaving the DOT, Rodney greatly missed his friends there. Rodney was a hard worker; he enjoyed working on cars in his garage when he had free time. He was a doting grandfather to two granddaughters who were his pride and joy. Rodney is survived by his wife, Peggy Jo (Carroll) Sanborn; son, James Sanborn and wife, Kasie; granddaughters, Madilyn and Elizabeth; mother, Velma Mayhew and husband, John; brothers, Timothy Sanborn and Jesse Sanborn; sister, Julie Doucette and husband, Richard; uncle, William Smart; mother-in-law, Louise Carroll; best friend, Gayland Madden and wife, Janis; as well as many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Franklin Sanborn, Sr.; brother, Franklin Sanborn, Jr.; brother, Roger Sanborn; and father-in-law, Eugene Carroll, Sr. Family and friends are invited to call, 10am, Monday, February 19, 2018 at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where a funeral service will be conducted at 11 am. Spring interment will be at Gould’s Ridge in Passadumkeag. Those who wish to remember Rodney in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 100 Campus Dr., Ste 108, Scarborough, ME 04074.
