OLD TOWN—Roger J. Parent, 84, died December 4, 2019 at his residence. HE was born December 16, 1934 in Old Town a son of Edmond Sr. and Alice (Poirier) Parent
Roger served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Upon discharge, he worked in Connecticut as a draftsman for several years, returning to Old Town to work at Owens-Illinois for over 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and woodworking. Roger was an faithful communicant at Holy Family Catholic Church, Old Town and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved frogs and had many frog collectibles. During retirement he enjoyed playing golf and working at Hidden Meadows Golf Course. He served as past Post Commander at American Legion Post 75 of Old Town. He enjoyed the companionship of his beloved cat, Mikey.
He is survived by three sons Roger Parent II and his wife Rachel, Michael Parent and his wife Sherri, Keith Parent, and a daughter Lea Plaisted nad her husband Scott; six grandchildren Tara, Korey, Chelsea, Andrew, Alisha, and Brooke; seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law Marjorie Lacadie, and a close and dear lady friend Dolores Simon that the family cannot thank enough for the wonderful support shown to Roger. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years Patricia in 2005, his parents, two brothers Edmond Jr and Donald and a sister Emelia DeForrest.
Graveside military services will be announced in the spring at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town. Memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund at the Maine Veterans Home 44 Hogan Road Bangor, Maine 04401
