BANGOR—Ronald William Jones, Jr., 81, died April 17, 2018 at a Bangor hospital. He was born March 25, 1937 in Flint, MI a son of Richard Sr and Margaret Jones.
He proudly served with the US Navy for six years during the Korean War. He was a talented artist, doing pencil drawings, caricatures, and oil painting. Many a day, he could be found at Hermon Meadows, perfecting his golf swing. He was a New England Sports fan and especially enjoyed following University of Maine athletics, and even traveled many times to many states to watch them play. Ronald was employed at the University of Maine, Fogler Library, for many years, retiring as the mail room supervisor. He enjoyed time spent at Chemo pond, playing cards and watching the grandchildren. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, wit, and sarcasm as well as being an excellent dancer.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara; four children Carrie Gallant and her husband Timothy , Rhonda Carter; Marie McLellan and her husband Kevin, Craig LePage and his wife Melissa; 10 grandchildren Kenny Carter and his wife Cait, Kaitlyn Carter and fiancé Mike Comeau, Richard LePage and wife Amanda, Cameron McLellan and wife Stacey, Brianna Ziegenfus and husband Will, Sierra Lyons and husband Sam, Kaylie LePage, Alexis LePage; 10 great grandchildren; sister Kathy Callard and husband Ernie; and his good golfing buddies.
A celebration of his life will be conducted 1PM Saturday at Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St. Old Town where friends may gather from 12 noon until time of service. Private interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. Memorial contributions may be made to the COPD Foundation www.copdfoundation.org or to the American Heart Association www.heart.org or to a charity of one’s choice.
