

OLD TOWN—Rudy Lavoie, 84, died peacefully January 15, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 9, 1929 in Old Town a son of George and Albertina (Cote) Lavoie.
Rudy was a selfmade man and had many achievements in his long career as a business manager and salesman. He was an avid outdoorsman, craftsman, and car enthusiast. Rudy enjoyed a life of laughter and loved spending time with his family, he cherished the time he spent with his dogs, in the out doors, creating birdhouses, and creating many memories.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Virginia Lavoie; daughter Mary Melanson and her husband Allan of LaGrange, George Lavoie and his wife Gina of Wiscasset; seven grandchildren Christopher Lavoie, Bethany Carl, Aimee McLoud, Megan Tardif, Michael Melanson, Aaron LeClair, and Adam LeClair; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters Imogene Richard and her husband Gordon of Old Town and Alvina Knapp and her husband Arthur of Bradley; many nieces and nephews special niece Carolyn Chewning and her husband Wayne and special nephews Thomas Lavoie. He was predeceased by a son Robert Lavoie, daughter Christine LeClair; brothers and best friends Roland Lavoie and Vinal Lavoie; grandson Jack Melanson; brother-in-law and dear friend Esborn Mills, and beloved companions Pudgie and Pierre. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St Old Town where a celebration of his life will be held 11AM Wednesday.
