Milford - Susanne M. Cleary, 56, died peacefully on May 22, 2018, at her residence with family by side. She was born on May 2, 1962, in Perth-Andover, NB, Canada, a daughter of Ivan F. and Juanita M. (Moulton) Perley.
Sue was proud of her Native American Heritage and enjoyed visits back to the Nation House at Tobique, Canada, and attending many of the cultural events. She will be fondly remembered for her bead work and dream catchers. Sue enjoyed hiking, camping, canoeing, and being outside. She encouraged and supported her children to get a good education and she was proud that she graduated from the University of Maine with two degrees. Above all else, she was proud of her sons and all that they have accomplished. She graciously welcomed her son's friends into her home and treated them as one of her own. Sue was always there to help in any way that she could.
She is survived by her sons, Balakw Cleary of St. Petersburg, FL, and Kyle Cleary of Bangor; three brothers, Shawn Carmichael and his companion, Kim Paul, Perry Perley, and Adrian Perley and his wife, Hope, all of Tobique, NB; sisters, Karen Sapiel and her husband, Terry, of Bangor, Lorna Springer and her husband, Ed, of Frederickton, NB, and Jan Lewey of Milfrod; as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Kevin, in 2014; her parents, her sisters, Jayne Perley and Gina Devink, and her brothers, Ivan and Hal Perley.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2018, at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where a funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 26. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
