Theola “Nana” a lifelong resident of Old Town, was the daughter of Theodore and Grace Lenfest. Theola attended local schools and graduated from Old Town High School. It was during her high school years that she met the love of her life Richard “dick” Dawes they married and spent 62 years together. Theola and her husband Dick spent many years enjoying their camp on Pushaw pond and winters in Venice, FL.
Theola was predeceased by her husband Richard “Dick” Dawes, son Theodore Dawes, Brothers Leroy and Brian Lenfest, sister Sylvia Hachey.
Theola is survived by her six children, Dawnitta Bailey and husband Rick of Port Charlotte, Fl., Richard Jr and friend Teresa of Corinth, Me., Cheryl Huston and Husband Allan Huston of Orono, Me., Alice McKay and her husband Kevin of Old Town Me., Lisa Fogg and husband Sean of Sarasota Fl., Lori Paull and her husband Tom of Nokomis Fl. Brother in-law Gayland Hachey and several special nieces and nephews.
Theola is survived by 21 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild as well as her very special companion dog Sheldon.
Theola’s greatest joys were spending time with her kids and grandchildren at the many family gatherings. Nana always loved surprising the grandkids with toys or something she picked up and put in her goodie bag. She also enjoyed the years she spent attending events for the Red Hats and the senior citizen luncheons.
Theola was a lifelong member of the United Baptist Church in Old Town. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Including two special friendships she had that spanned throughout her lifetime with Nadia Rand of Old Town and Nancy Kelliher of Old Town and Florida.
A celebration of Theola’s life will be Wednesday September 14th at 10:00 am at the United Baptist Church, Middle Street, Old Town. Burial will be at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town. A reception will follow at the church hall.
