Old Town - On March 4, 2023, Thomas F. Pelletier unexpectedly passed away at his home. Though this brings great sorrow, the family is comforted in knowing that Tom was greeted at the gates of heaven by his Lord Jesus Christ; his father and mother, Philip and Geraldine (Oakes) Pelletier; older sister, Carol Ann (Pelletier) Casey and younger brother, Shawn Pelletier.
Tom grew up in Milford with his parents and five siblings. After graduating from Old Town High School in 1982, Tom went to the University of Maine where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Management. Since college Tom has worked in Forestry Management in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Texas, and Mississippi.
Those who knew Tom were well aware of his love for the outdoors. Tom was an avid sportsman enjoying fishing and hunting during all open seasons in Maine. Tom was also passionate about hunting in many other states including New Hampshire, Vermont, West Virginia, Mississippi, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and Kansas. In the last 10 years, Tom began exploring hunting in South Africa and Zimbabwe where he was able to harvest and donate the meat of many exotic animals.
Tom leaves behind eldest sister, Rebecca "Reba" Willigar, and eldest brother, Stephen "Pelley" Pelletier, both of St. Petersburg, FL; sister, Beth Austin of Pensacola, FL, and daughter, Brandy and her daughter, Willow. Additionally, three special nieces, Allison "Brat" and husband, Sanjay Chadda, sons, JR and Lex, Shawna "Woob" and husband, Charlie Owen, daughter, Eliana and son, Behr, and Sarah "Kid" and Bryan Levesque, and daughter Harper, who will all miss their Uncle Tommy. In addition to his immediate family, Tom leaves behind many special friends whom he considered family.
Tom's most prized possession in life was his dog, Finn, who will now be living out the remainder of his days with family, until he meets Tom again.
The hole he leaves in all of our hearts was sudden and will take time to heal. Do him a favor, and be present within your lives and say "Hi" to him whenever you find yourself in the woods or on the water.
The Rock Church on the Finson Rd. in Bangor has graciously agreed to hold a funeral on March 18, 2023, at 3 p.m. Immediately following the funeral there will be a celebration of Tom's life at the church for conversation, photo sharing, and light refreshments. In Tom's honor the family is encouraging casual dress, even Teva's.
In lieu of flowers the family asks you to honor Tom by making a donation in his name to the Somerby Safaris payable to Butch Meilinger, Attn: Dorm 397 Stonegate, Windgap, PA 18091. These funds will be used for underserved schools in South Africa with a plaque being displayed in memory of Tom. Additionally, the family wishes to express their gratitude to the Rock Church Bangor and Old Town campus for the impact they made on Tom's life and the support they have provided, any donations would be appreciated.
