Milford - Vernard James Carr, 70, died peacefully on Saturday night, April 21, 2018, at home with his wife and daughter at his side. He was born in Old Town on July 20, 1947, a son of Maurice and Marion (Shirland) Carr.
Vern worked at the tannery in Howland, Star City Glass in Rhode Island, and retired from the James River Mill in Old Town after 34 years of service. He had a passion for living and was a fighter until the end, having undergone several operations. He loved snowmobiling, scootering, four wheeling, and camping at PVA campground in Charleston. He loved to joke and kid with all the nurses, waitresses, clerks, and children.
He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Karen (Bouchard) Carr; step-children, Sherry Tripp and her husband, Stephen, Tonya Dupuis and her husband, David, Joseph Wayne Walls, and Douglas Walls; grandchildren, Brandon Tripp, Hayley Genthner, Breanna Curry, Joshua Gaskey, Cory Gaskey, Stephen Dupuis, and Joseph Walls; great-grandchildren, Silas Genthner and Skeilah Gaskey; sisters, Arlene Grant, Lillian Anderson, Evelyn Vaillancourt, and Nancy Dodge, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Richard and Maurice Jr., and his sister, Betty Bailey.
Per Vern's wishes, a small private service will be held now and later this summer; a celebrations gathering will be announced at the PVA Campground in Charleston.
