And she loved the sight of snow as it blanketed everything, especially the fir trees.
She was born on December 18, 1924 in Madison, Maine, the daughter of Rosa Ferland LeBlanc and Dedus Joseph LeBlanc. After graduating from Madison High School in 1942, Vi pursued a career in the care of others, graduating from Sisters' Hospital in Waterville as a registered nurse in 1945.
On October 16, 1948 she married 2nd LT. G. Paul Dumont of Skowhegan. Their career as a U.S. Air Force family saw them travel to many parts of the United States, raising a family of four children:
G. Pierre of Roque Bluffs and his wife, Pat; Jerry of Topsham, Michael and his late wife, Marti, of Old Town and Roxanne Hayes and her husband, Jerry, of Edinburg. Grandchildren include Nikki Balderson and husband Price, of Portland, OR; Chad Hayes and wife Gina, of Cumberland; Danielle Dumont-Cohen and husband, Spencer Cohen, of Old Town; Paul Dumont and wife Jodie, of Bradley; Jessica Dumont of Bangor and PJ Dumont of Hampden. There are now seven great-grandchildren in the family as well.
Violette leaves behind her husband of almost 70 years, Paul, a brother, Robert LeBlanc and his wife, Patricia, of Jay and was predeceased by brothers Emile of Bolton, CT and Auguste of Waterville.
She also had many fond memories of time spent with a favorite aunt, Yvette Ferland of Madison.
After her career in nursing and raising four active children, Vi enjoyed following many of the extracurricular activities of her grandchildren. She also found pleasure as an avid reader and bridge player. Speaking of playing cards, she and Paul played, conservatively estimating, cribbage in the tens of thousands of matches during their 30+ years of retirement together.
Church and her faith was cornerstone in Vi's life. She and Paul were regular attendees at Holy Family Catholic Church in Old Town as well as St. Ann's in Bradley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11AM Friday May 11, 2018 at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Special thanks to Lynne, Myles and Marilyn of St. Joseph's Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, a gift may be made in her memory to: Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or www.samaritanspurse.org
