

Old Town - Virginia May (Stevens) Lavoie, 88, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2018, at a Bangor Hospital. She was born in Bangor on March 3, 1929, the daughter of Alfred and Harriet (Nichols) Stevens.
Virginia graduated from Bangor High School. For over 25 years, she worked as a secretary for the Helen Hunt School, until her retirement. She was an active member of both Daughters of Isabella and the Red Hat Society. Virginia was also a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Mary Melanson and husband, Allan; son, George Lavoie and wife, Gina; grandchildren, Aimee, Megan, Michael, Christopher, Bethany, Aaron and Addam; eighteen great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Kuchinski; special niece, Carolyn Chewning; and a dear friend, Priscilla LaFlamme.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Rudolph Lavoie; son, Robert Lavoie; daughter, Christine LeClair; grandson, Jack Melanson; sisters, Anne Thomas and Marie Cates; brothers, William Stevens and Alfred Stevens; and a special great-niece, Kristina Thomas.
