OLD TOWN – William “Bill” Alan Sibley, 71, was taken too soon on the evening of October 25, 2018, after having recently discovered he had an aggressive cancer in his spine. He was born in Old Town, November 13, 1946, the son of Benjamin and Gertrude Sibley.
Bill was a Vietnam Veteran that served in the United States Army and was a proud member of the VFW Post #3381, Old Town; as well as a member of the American Legion, Post #75, Old Town.
Bill met and eventually married the love of his life, Debbie, on October 20, 1979. Together they formed a beautiful family of five. Bill made it his mission in life, as an employee of the Old Town Mill, to provide absolutely anything and everything for his wife and three children. Anyone that knew him, knew exactly how proud he was of that family.
Bill enjoyed playing “mini golf” in his backyard with his family and friends, but most of all each Christmas Eve with everyone surrounding him as he played chef with the seafood dinner.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by three brothers, Wesley Sibley, Teddy Sibley and Roger Sibley; a sister, Donna Johnson; and a very special niece, Sherry Sibley-Levesque. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Debbie Sibley; his brother, Woody Sibley and his wife, Beverly; his three children, William Sibley II and his wife, Lisa, Jamie Pete and his wife, Jennifer, and Angel Michaud; his two grandchildren, Tyler Sibley and Avery McCormack; and a very special nephew, Randy Sibley and his wife, Lori. Bill will be greatly missed by many.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town. Those who wish to remember Bill in a special way, may make gifts in his memory to The House in the Woods, 217 Skunk Hill Rd, Lee, ME 04455.
