He was married to Connie McMillen for almost 50 years. They were joined in marriage on March 15, 1974. They were blessed with four children: Jennifer Vicars, Joseph McMillen, Amy McMillen, and Michael McMillen. They were also blessed with 12 grandchildren.
Alan would say that his greatest accomplishment in life was his family. He loved his family and wife fiercely with every breath he took. Every decision he made in life was for the benefit of his family. The only thing he wanted in life was to spend all his days with his wife and family. His wish for all of them would be to live their lives to the fullest, to love one another just as fiercely as he did, and to take care of each other in the following days.

A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 6875 Cockrum Street, Olive Branch, MS 38654. A committal service will occur Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 11:45 AM to 12:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133.
