

Alvida “Mickey” Cain, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2026, in Southaven, Ms. Mickey was born on August 28, 1938, to Walter and Tena Motta in Memphis, TN. She was a devoted member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Southaven, MS, and later of St. Bede’s Episcopal Church in Cleveland, OK. Her church communities held a special place in her heart, and she cherished the friendships and fellowship she found there.
Mickey retired from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital after 30 years of dedicated service. Throughout her life, she gave generously of her time, volunteering at local soup kitchens, participating in PBS reading programs, and supporting community ministries. Her compassionate spirit and commitment to serving others left a lasting impact.
Mickey was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Roy D. Cain; daughter, Amy Cain; parents, Walter and Tena Motta; sister, Shirley Moore, and her great granddaughter, Adaline Barnett.
She is survived by her two daughters, Julie Garza (Adrian), Sharon Moura (Vernon Sr.); her brother, Gene Motta; three grandchildren, Nick LaChance (Leslie), Samantha Hayes (Nic), Emma Eads; her great-grandson, Jackson Barnett, and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church or St. Bede’s Episcopal Church.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
