Born to Martha Ellen Bond and John Henry Osborne on March 9, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland, Ann was also raised by her loving bonus dad, Charles Monroe Long.
From the time her family moved to Walls, in 1972, Mrs. Jolley was a pillar of Desoto County. Alongside her loving husband, she was pivotal in creating the Walls Volunteer Fire Department, serving the community for decades. She also served her Walls community by working the election polls with the DeSoto County Election Commission.
While working for Avant Insurance as their Administrative Assistant, she served the students and families of DeSoto County as a member of the DeSoto County School Board for 33 years. She was sworn in for her first term in January 1989, and served until her retirement in September 2022. She was a strong advocate for our children and their education. Mrs. Jolley also served on the Mississippi School Board Association from 2000 through 2008, serving as President during the 2005-2006 school term.
Mrs. Jolley, being a committed follower of Jesus Chirst, was an active, integral member of Minor Memorial United Methodist Church. She taught the toddler Sunday school class for over 25 years. She also served on countless Methodist committees throughout the years.
Her passions were sewing, crocheting afghans, and reading. Afghans were made for new babies, high school seniors, and college graduates.
She loved her family dearly. One of the greatest joys in life was being “Mawmaw” to her grandchildren, where she was blessed with the first three within seventeen months. She made precious memories by blessing her children and grandchildren with several trips to Disneyland. It was in agreement that nine days at Disney was not a vacation.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Raymond Andrew Jolley; father, John Henry Osborne; mother, Martha Ellen Bond; bonus dad, Charles Monroe Long; and brother, Ronald Lee Long.
Mrs. Ann Jolley is survived by her sons, James Blake Jolley (Janet) and Charles Ronald Jolley (Sherry); grandchildren: Andrew Knight Jolley, Blake Alexander Jolley (Kayla), Courtney Starr Jolley, Jonathan Monroe Jolley, and Owen Patrick Jolley; great-grandchildren, Sloane Ivy Jolley and Stephen Blake Jolley; bonus grandchild, Darla Bonner (Matthew Gardner); sister, Barbara Long Grey; sister-in-law, Barbara Long; best friend of 50+ years, Billie Wilhite, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at Minor Memorial United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10:00 am until 2:00 at which time the funeral service will begin.
