

Anne Ligon Black, 90, went to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ, on January 9, 2026. Anne was a graduate of Treadwell High School class of 1953. She completed her pre-nursing education at Rhodes College and graduated as a registered nurse from Methodist School of Nursing. She worked several years at Methodist Hospital in Memphis, TN. She was married to the love of her life, A.L., for 67 years, and together they owned Black’s Apothecary for 37 years.
Anne was a devout Christian and a member of Broadway Baptist Church. She was an exceptionally talented artist and was generous with gifting artwork to her family and friends, as well as donating pieces to various fundraising events. She was a member of several associations and community groups, including the University of Tennessee Pharmacy Auxiliary, Kennedy Book Club, Mid-South Decorative Artist (charter and lifetime member), Desoto Arts Council, and Magnolia Paper Guild.
Anne will be deeply missed for her loving heart, caring personality, and unwavering generosity with her time, talents, and love. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, hospitality, creativity, and love that will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
Anne is survived by her loving husband, A.L. Black; sons, Brent (Cindy) Black of Olive Branch, MS and Brian (Eugenia) Black of Oakland, MS; granddaughters, Meghan (Daniel) Campbell of Chattanooga, TN and Meredith (Matt) Sanders of Germantown, TN; great-grandchildren, Nash Campbell, Olivia Campbell, Madeline Sanders, William Sanders and Thomas Sanders; a nephew, nieces, and many cherished family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Maurine Ligon, and her brother, Billy Ligon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Broadway Baptist Church or the charity of your choice. A private family service will be held at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
