Arthur Lenwood Sprague, 74, of Memphis, TN passed away on August 7, 2024. Mr. Sprague was born on September 22, 1949 in Memphis, TN to the late Wesley and Frances Sprague. He attended Humes High School in Memphis until he joined the United States Navy to serve our country during the Vietnam War. After his Navy service, he went to work for American Dye where he worked as a dye maker for 25 years. He then started his own business and opened Larry and Art’s Auto Service. He had that business for about 10 years. He then went to work for O’Reilly Auto Parts for about 10 years until he retired. In his free time, he enjoyed racing. When he was younger, he raced go-carts for many years. He then built a stock car and raced it for about 10 years. Along with his parents, Mr. Sprague was preceded in death by his siblings: Don, Bobby, Jimmy, Ruth, and George. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gayle Sprague; daughter, Melissa Danyale Lewis; son, Robert Arthur Sprague; daughter, Patricia Beth Sprague; grandchildren: Daniel, Della, Trey, Lily, Becca, and Garrett; and three sisters: Wanda Gatlin, Sue Hunt, and Mary Jane Dunlop. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at Brantley Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 5-7 pm. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, August 15, 2024, also at Brantley Funeral. Burial will follow at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
