Ava Jewel Keough

Ava (Jewel) Keough, age 79, of Independence, MS, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home surrounded by family in Liverpool, PA on April 29, 2015. She was a retired school bus driver for the Tate County School District. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

Jewel was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Charles E. Keough; two sons: Dennis Wayne Keough and Charles (Chuck) E. Keough, Jr.; her parents: A.D. McCann and Annie K. Doak; one sister, Shirley Smith; and one brother, Vernon R. McCann.

Jewel leaves six daughters: Patricia Hull (Mark) of Arlington, TX; Becky Jones (Bob) of Raleigh, NC; Janice Shelley (Bob) of Liverpool, PA; Elaine Vickery (J.W.) of Southaven, MS; Cheri Botcher (Tod) of Canyon, TX; and Jennifer Casey (Dwayne) of Senatobia, MS; one son Michael Keough of Independence, MS; and two sisters: Mary Ann Hurst of McNairy, TN and Beulah Doak of Medon, TN. She was a loving “Mamaw” to 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

The funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch, MS. Jewel will be laid to rest at Blocker Cemetery, Olive Branch, MS.
