

Was gently carried into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 2, 2014. She was preceded in her homegoing by her loving husband of 51 years, Charles Darroll Welborn, for whom she cared faithfully during his lengthy illness. Her parents William R. Tolleson and Ida M. (Bridgefarmer) Tolleson of Whitesboro, Texas and her brothers Byron Tolleson, Warren Tolleson and sisters Claudell Crockett Roberson, Maurene Cunningham, Dorcas Hicks Evans, Earlene Tolleson, Clara Gene and Ima Gene Tolleson, all of Texas, were anxiously awaiting her arrival in heaven. She was also surely greeted by dearest friend ZaLena Hutchison and a host of other dear family and church family who had already completed their journey.
She is survived by her only child, Deborah Welborn Curtis, son-in-law, Dr. Bob F. Curtis, grandchildren Jennifer Curtis Tidwell, Joel Benjamin Welborn Curtis and Shelly Parent Curtis and great grandson Brooks Tidwell who all reside in Desoto County, Mississippi and who loved and adored her. She also leaves behind a loving church family who cared for her as she finished her race.
She loved children and faithfully taught 1st grade Sunday School at Lafayette Park Baptist Church for over 30 years. She also retired from JC Penney on Cherokee St. in St. Louis after 30 years of employment. Her residence for over 53 years was on Robert Ave, in south St. Louis, Missouri.
She will always be remembered for her joyful and loving spirit-filled walk with Jesus. Being a gracious saint, she always had a kind word of encouragement, a thankful heart, and smile for all she met. She was a woman of deep prayer, faith, and charity.
A memorial fund will be established in her memory at New Prospect Baptist Church, 310 Hwy. 305 N, Olive Branch, MS and will be used to create a Prayer Garden where people may worship and spend time with their Creator. Her daughter, Debbie, also plans to plant a memorial garden in her memory at her home.
Her Memorial Service will be held at Ballwin Baptist Church, 15101 Manchester Rd., Ballwin, Missouri on Friday, May 9, Visitation will be from 3-6 PM and a service at 6 PM.
