Billy Earl Dixon passed away August 25, 2018 in Southaven, MS at the age of 81. Mr. Dixon was born on December 7, 1936 in Clarksdale, MS. He is survived by three sons: Ronald E. (Sonya) Dixon of Ooltewah, TN; Bruce W. (Renae) Dixon of Ooltewah, TN; and Kevin L. Dixon of Olive Branch, MS; five grandchildren: Abigail L. (Ian) Johnstone of Naperville, IL; Sarah K. Dixon of Sale Creek, TN; Hannah M. Dixon of Ooltewah, TN; Brandon S. Dixon of Cleveland, TN; and Lauren P. Dixon of Kennesaw, GA; two brothers: Gary L. Dixon of Olive Branch, MS and O. David (Alice) Dixon of Lakeland, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Norma Jean (Spencer) Dixon; his parents, Lee Mathis Dixon and Elizabeth L. (Burney) Dixon; and his sister, Sandra Dixon. Mr. Dixon was a retired Air Traffic Controller with the Federal Aviation Administration. He also served in the Air National Guard for twenty years, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant. In total, Mr. Dixon served his country with honor, retiring from the federal government after 34 years and one month. Mr. Dixon's greatest contribution, however, was to his family. He was a loving husband, an amazing father, and a proud grandfather. A devoted follower of Jesus Christ, he faithfully modeled Christ's love. His family is incredibly blessed and grateful because he leaves behind an enduring, Godly legacy for his sons, daughters in law, and his grandchildren. Visitation and funeral services for Mr. Dixon will be at Oak Forest Church of God, 7700 Getwell Rd., Southaven, MS, his church home for nearly 70 years. Visitation will be Friday, August 31, from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday, September 1, from 10-11 a.m. The funeral service will follow the visitation on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Southwoods in Memphis, TN. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch, MS.
