

The community of Cockrum, MS, bids a fond farewell to Mr. Billy Wayne Hudson. Born July 6th, 1934, to Roy and Melna Hudson, Mr. Billy spent his early years working alongside his father and older brother, Elroy, as a dairy transportation specialist, where he made many lifelong friends and built numerous relationships in DeSoto, Tate, and Marshall County. Serving his country as an Army combat medic in the late 50’s in Germany, Mr. Billy honorably completed his term of service and came home to marry his loving wife, Anna Elder Hudson (1934-2025), and began a lifelong career as a freight transporter and over-the-road truck driver. A racecar enthusiast, Mr. Billy never missed an opportunity to attend or watch a NASCAR or Indy race. An active member of Cockrum Community Church and an enthusiastic supporter of the A.C.I. Volunteer Fire Department, Mr. Billy was well known and well loved by all of Cockrum and the surrounding area. Mr. Billy passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 13th, 2026. He leaves behind many loving cousins, countless friends, and a lifetime of faithful, loving service. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. Burial will follow at Cockrum Cemetery, 3945 MS-305, Hernando, MS 38632.
