Billy Lee Scott, Sr., 82, of Cockrum, MS passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Knight and Annie Elizabeth Scott; daughter, Joanne Scott McGee; and great-granddaughter, Piper Laine Jenkins. He is survived by his wife Mildred Worley Scott; son, Billy Lee Scott, Jr; daughter, Allison Meredith (Marty); grandchildren: Billy Lee Scott III, Heather Schellang (Michael), Megan Scott, Jake Scott, Trey Nelson (Joni), Michelle Swiatkowski (Will), Madison Meredith, Spencer Meredith; and great-grandchildren: Karly, Avery, Roe, Jasa, Demi, Kolby, Karsyn, and Asher. Mr. Scott retired from Baptist Hospital after 38 years of service. He was a hard- working man who always provided for his family. He was a family man and loved them with his whole heart. He was known in the Cockrum community as “the man on the porch who always waved.” In his free time, he loved working on his sprint car. His #21 Sprint Car became known as “Piper’s Ride,” and several family members and friends had the honor of driving his car for him. A graveside service will be held for Mr. Scott at Cockrum United Methodist Church cemetery on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 2:00 pm.
Mildred Worley Scott, 78, of Cockrum, MS passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021. Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lee Scott, Sr.; her parents, Henry and Josephine Worley; daughter, Joanne Scott McGee; and great-granddaughter, Piper Laine Jenkins. She is survived by her son, Billy Lee Scott, Jr.; daughter, Allison Meredith (Marty); grandchildren: Billy Lee Scott III, Heather Schellang (Michael), Megan Scott, Jake Scott, Trey Nelson (Joni), Michelle Swiatkowski (Will), Madison Meredith, and Spencer Meredith; and great-grandchildren: Karly, Avery, Roe, Jasa, Demi, Kolby, Karsyn, and Asher. Mrs. Scott retired from the Baptist Hospital after 28 years. She was a member of Olive Branch church of Christ. Mildred was known, not only to her immediate family, but throughout the extended family and to so many as “Mamaw.” No matter if it was just a day or a week, she was genuinely happy when she saw family and friends that she loved. She loved to stay in touch with all her friends and family, and make sure everyone was taken care of. A graveside service will be held for Mrs. Scott at Cockrum United Methodist Church cemetery on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 2:00 pm.
