Billy Ray Phillips, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 surrounded by his family. Billy was born on April 19, 1932 in Memphis, TN to the late William Sumpter Phillips and Spencer King Phillips.
He graduated from Southside High School (Class of 1950) and maintained close relationships with many of these friends throughout his entire life. Billy served his country honorably in the United States Navy. His career was spent as a Commercial and Industrial Electrician, working thirty-five years for Shelby Electric Company. Bill loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid reader and enjoyed history. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Ann Phillips; his daughter, Sherry Lynn Sere; his parents, William and Spencer Phillips; his brother, Jimmy Phillips; and his sister, Marjorie Acree. Survivors include two children, Johnny (Pam) Phillips and Scott (Nia) Phillips; sister Carolyn (Tommy) Poff. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. Burial will follow at Blocker Cemetery in Olive Branch, Ms.
