Bobbie Stalyon Ross, 88, peacefully passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Baptist DeSoto in Southaven, MS. She was born on June 16, 1936, in Lenoir City, TN, to the late Robert Lee and Vivian Amos Stalyon. A proud graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor’s degree in Music, Bobbie devoted her life to her passion for music. For over 60 years, she shared her talent as a organist and pianist teacher, leaving a lasting impact on countless students as they grew under her guidance.
Throughout her life, Bobbie was an integral part of the church music community, serving as a pianist at many local churches. She played for 28 years at First Baptist, 30 years at Maples, and most recently at First Global Methodist Church. Bobbie’s musical talents also extended to Brantley Funeral Home, where she served as the pianist for over 38 years, becoming a beloved member of the Brantley family.
Outside of music, Bobbie had a love for simple pleasures. She enjoyed sipping coffee with three creamers, savoring a Dr. Pepper, and eating oatmeal cream pies. Bobbie cherished spending time with her family, particularly enjoying breakfasts at Neighborhood Grill. Her love for Ole Miss football was well-known, and she never missed an opportunity to cheer on her team.
Bobbie’s legacy of kindness, music, and love for her family will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Lawrence Beverly Ross, and her parents, Robert Lee and Vivian Amos Stalyon.
Bobbie leaves behind her three sons, Robert Ross, David Ross (Suzie), and John Ross (Cindy). She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Amanda Ross, Caroline Ross, Katie Roney (Matt), Sarah Ross, Clark Ross, Taylor Ross, and 7 great-grandchildren: CJ, Anna, Drew, Zach, Willow, Theo, and Lilly.
The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the "Building Fund" at First Global Methodist Church, P.O. Box 51 Olive Branch, Ms 38654, in memory of Bobbie Ross.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home, located at 6875 Cockrum St., Olive Branch, MS 38654. A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 10:00 am at First Global Methodist Church, 3945 Hwy 305, Hernando, MS 38632. Burial will follow at Blocker Cemetery in Olive Branch, Ms.
