Clara Ellen Williams

Born and reared in Cottonwood Point, MO to parents, J. W. Hicks and Ellen (Dixon) Hicks, she attended Caruthersville High school. At 19 years of age she moved to Memphis, TN to attend Draughon’s Business college. She met and married James Walter Williams and started a family. Through the years she was a member of and attended Glen Park Baptist church, where she taught Sunday school to second graders for 16 years. Her faith and love of studying God’s Word and her personal relationship with Jesus, was a great example to her family and friends.

She moved to Lewisburg, MS in June of 1981 and joined New Prospect Baptist church, where she worked in the Church office, as well as teaching Sunday school.

She loved Needle arts and was a member of Germantown Smocking guild, and the DeSoto Fiber Arts guild.

She is preceded in death by her parents, J. W. and Ellen Hicks, her husband James Walter Williams, her siblings, Dorothy Jane (Hicks) Hardesty, Michael Ray Hicks and her son, James Walter Williams, Jr.

She is survived by daughters, Anna-Grace Williams and Alexis (Bob) Cremerius, daughter-in-law, Jennifer (Purcell) Williams, son-in-law, Harris Quinn, grandchildren, Ivy Thomas, Grace (Daniel) Pipkin, Ellen (Chris) Bolam, Harris Quinn, Jr., Alex Quinn, Caleb Williams, Lauren (Charles) Rizarri, Haley (Taylor) McMullen, Caroline Cremerius and great grandchildren, Amelia Rizarri , Daniel Rizarri, Nora Rizarri, Eve Pipkin, Luke Pipkin and Tucker McMullen.

There will be a family graveside service with a celebration of life at a later date. . In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Midsouth Sober Living (https://midsouthsoberliving.org/donate) in her honor.
