

Cliff was born January 21, 1927 in Jackson, Michigan to Hannah and Frank King. They lived in Jackson and Bad Axe Michigan and finally residing in Toledo Ohio.
A Graduate of Woodward High School he was raised in Toledo’s North End. After graduation he enlisted in the Navy and was a Veteran of World War Two. In 1947 Cliff was the Toledo Ohio Middle Weight Golden Gloves Champion, and followed up as the City wide open Middle Weight Champ. He reenlisted and served an additional two year in the USMC. During the 1950’s Cliff taught Boxing at the Boys Club of Toledo and many of these young men still remembered and visited him. He was an avid sportsman all his life. He loved to hunt, fish, golf, and boating on Lake Erie and Budweiser. He was employed at The Toledo Scale Company for 31 years, retiring in 1978
Cliff was united in marriage to Marjorie Knochel on Valentine’s Day 1953. They were married for fifty one years. They had one son Jeffrey. Cliff and Marge lived most of their married life in Temperance Michigan where she preceded him in death in 2004. In 2005 Cliff moved to Olive Branch Mississippi where he lived with his son Jeff and his wife Betty. While in Olive Branch, Cliff developed a good many friends and enjoyed going to the O.B. YMCA. As his Alzheimer’s progressed he spent the last portion of his life at Olive Groove Terrace’s Arbors facility for Alzheimer’s patients and then Desoto Health Care.
Cliff was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Hannah King, Brother Robert and Leonard King, sisters Francis Roetgers and Annie Chambers. He is survived by his son Jeff (Betty) King, one sister Jean Higgins, and his grandchildren Kevin King, Heidi (Mike) Trombly, John (Andrea) LaRoe, Zack (Melisa) Bitner, Chris (Stephanie) Bitner and Brandy Walker. Cliff had 14 great grandchildren. He was a member of the Scale Quarter Century Club, a Life Member of VFW Post 606 in Toledo and the Conn Weissenberger American Legion Post 587 of Toledo.
A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday 5:00 to 7:00p.m. and funeral service on Friday 10:30a.m both at Brantley Funeral Home, Olive Branch, MS., burial will be in Sylvania Ohio at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or donations to the family, please make a contribution in Cliff’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
