

Connie Lea Meyer, 78, of Hernando, MS passed away on October 13, 2025. Connie was born on October 2, 1947, in Chattanooga, TN to the late Herman and Mary Lou Carter. During her childhood, her family moved to Memphis, and she attended Frayser High School. After high school, she earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Belmont University in Nashville. Connie’s love for music was a theme throughout her entire life. She was a concert pianist and had the privilege of playing at St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican, Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, and in Washington, DC for President George W. Bush. Along with her playing, she also wrote music. Connie later attended Baptist College of Nursing in Memphis where she earned her BSN. She worked as a school nurse with Shelby County for many years. Her last nursing job was in labor and delivery at St. Francis Hospital on Park Ave. in Memphis. Along with her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lynn Petreman; and her grandmother, Ethel Hatfield. She is survived by her daughter, Stacey Lynn Bailey; son, Robert Matthew Bailey; son, Nathan Lyle Bailey; daughter, Laura Jane Bailey; grandchildren: Ashlynn Leigh Chambers, Victoria Elizabeth Bailey-Monaghan, Sarah Grace Bailey, Isidoro Hernandez, III, Ian Michael Hernandez, Christian Caleb Chambers, and Brayden Carter Bailey; great-grandchildren: Stephanie Melissa Hernandez, Angela Nikole Hernandez, Michael Alexander Hernandez, Haygen Wilde Monaghan, and Montana Nichole Chambers; and nephews, Barry Petreman and Daniel Petreman from Camden, TN. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at Brantley Funeral Home on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 5-7 pm. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 25, 2025, also at Brantley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memphis Memory Gardens.
