

David Charles Mims, 49, of Barton, MS, passed away December 30, 2011, at his home. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Monday, January 2nd, at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Private services will be held at Valley Hill United Methodist Church in Greenwood, MS. David was a graduate of Germantown High School and received his Bachelors Degree from Southeastern Louisiana University. He was the Senior Vice President of Information Systems at Vining Sparks in Memphis, TN. David was passionate about traditional archery and was a highly skilled craftsman in the art of bow making. He gifted his work to many of his fellow bowyers. David was preceded in death by his father, Robert Anderson Mims, Jr.; and 2 brothers, Robert Michael Mims and John Randolph Mims. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Donna Downing Mims; his daughter, Mary Katherine Mims; his mother, Carol Jean Churchill Mims; 2 sisters, Nancy Mims Baldwin and Susan Mims Howard; his niece, Sarah Elizabeth Howard; loving in-laws, Don and Louise Downing; and a large extended family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. David was a devoted family man and friend, and he leaves a legacy that will never be forgotten.
