Dorothy Marie “Dot” Sowell, 73, passed away peacefully on Monday night September 30, 2013 with her family by her side. There will be a gathering of friends Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and the service will be held Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 10 a.m. all at the Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch, MS. She retired after working many years as a teacher’s aide at Olive Branch Elementary School. She lovingly attended Fairhaven Baptist Church. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 53 years, Chester Sowell; mother, Velma Brown; son, Mike Sowell (Teree); two daughters, Donna Ragsdale (Jimmy) and Jennifer Thurmond (Keith); brother, Johnny Kayler (Linda); sister, Janet Luter (David) and seven grandchildren Garrett Sowell, Madison Sowell, Alan Ragsdale, Ashley Ragsdale, Tori Thurmond, Katelynn Thurmond and Kyle Thurmond.
