Doug lived life with a smile, a sense of humor, and probably a practical joke waiting in the wings. He loved music, art, woodworking, fishing, boating, Jeeps, and in his younger days, motorcycles and surfing. If it involved creativity, adventure, being near the water, or making someone laugh, Doug was all in.
He was a master of dad jokes, a lifelong prankster, and the kind of person who could make an ordinary day a little more fun simply by being himself. His family may never fully recover from the number of terrible jokes he told—but they wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
Doug leaves behind his beloved wife, Susan Enright; his daughters, Devin Waller (Kevin) and Cortney Blumer (Eric); and his treasured grandchildren, Taylor, Lillian, Gabe, and Georgia.
He is also survived by his brother, Rick Enright, and remembered alongside Rick’s beloved wife, Kathy Enright, who preceded him in death. He is also survived by his sister, Laurie Fill, and her husband, Kevin. He leaves behind his nieces and nephews Shaun, Shannon, Rick, TJ, Gia, Jimmy, and Faith, his beautiful great nieces and nephews, his life long friends, extended family members, and of course, his faithful canine sidekick, Dolly Barkin’.
While we will miss him deeply, we take comfort in imagining him somewhere with calm water, good music, a fishing pole in one hand and a beer and tomato juice in the other if they allow that in heaven, and of course, an endless audience for his dad jokes.
In true Dougie fashion, we ask that you honor his memory by telling a bad joke, pulling a harmless prank, taking a ride, casting a line, eating a cupcake, or simply making someone laugh.
After all, that would have made him smile.
