Edwin "Allen" Allen Rhymer III

Allen was born on October 3, 1960 in Marianna, Florida to Edwin Allen Rhymer, Jr. and Virginia Grace Johnson Rhymer. Allen was the oldest of six sons, and after several moves across the South, the Rhymer family settled in Mobile, Alabama where Allen attended and graduated from Murphy High School in 1979. After graduating from high school, Allen enlisted in the United States Army, where he served for 7 years before being honorably discharged.

After his time in the Army, Allen returned home to Mobile where he met Amanda Jermyn while enrolled at the University of South Alabama. They were married on October 25, 1987. Their oldest daughter, Logan Elizabeth, was born in Mobile. After moving to Olive Branch, MS, their youngest daughter, Laramy Anne, was born. Allen worked in construction for over thirty-five years- first, for the family business, Ajax Construction, and later started his own business, Rhymer Squared Construction, with his brother Erich. Allen was an extremely talented trim carpenter and craftsman- there was nothing that he could not build or fix.

Allen and Amanda spent many years traveling after the girls were grown- many of those years spent riding motorcycles across the country with great friends. After a recent battle with lung cancer, Allen spent the last several years making memories closer to home- two summer trips to Washington, DC; several cruises with Amanda and friends; trips to the Gulf Coast; countless trips to Batesville to see his beloved granddaughter Camille in every program she had and to her softball tournaments across North Mississippi.

Allen is survived by his wife, Amanda of Olive Branch, MS; his daughter Logan and her husband, David of Batesville, MS; his daughter Laramy and her husband, Tyler of Cordova, TN; his granddaughter Camille of Batesville, MS; his brothers Karl (Ioana), Spencer (Alma), Jason (Linda), Erich (Amy), and Preston (Courtney) and their children whom he loved dearly; and his mother-in-law Florence “Chip” Jermyn.

The family will have a time of come and go visitation to celebrate Allen’s life on August 8, 2026 from 1:00-5:00 PM at The Fountain South located at 6769 Morell Cove, Olive Branch, MS.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation in Allen’s memory to support veterans, first responders, and their families.
