

Eva Bell Murphy, 98, of Coldwater, MS went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2026. Eva was born on November 20, 1927, in DeSoto County, MS to the late Mose Drew Goodwin and Lillie Vest Goodwin. She worked for Standard Parts for 35 years until her retirement. In her free time, she was involved in the MS Homemakers Club, WMU, and the Goldenayers. Eva was a believer in Jesus Christ and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was involved in many other ways. She loved to travel and one of the highlights of her life was being able to visit the Holy Land. Along with her parents, Eva is preceded in death by her brother, Aubrey Leon Goodwin; brother, James W. Goodwin; brother, Billy Ray Goodwin; and sister, Mary Murphy. She is survived by her son, Billy J. Murphy of Walls, MS; son, Andrew L. Murphy (Pat) of Horn Lake, MS; daughter, Pat Stewart of Olive Branch, MS; sister, Joann Neal (Tommie) of Independence, MS; brother, Stanley Goodwin of Waterford, MS; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at Mt. Zion Baptist Church (9290 Hwy 306, Independence, MS 38638) on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 10-11 am with a funeral service to begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Olive Branch. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund.
